Title Brand Design
Inspiring attention to your project may be the hardest thing you do in entertainment, and flatly undoable without a smashing logline. This is an industry of No, not Yes. That's because a studio executive’s reality is this; getting trouble for No is rare, but a career can be destroyed over a single Yes. And that is an intense shell to walk on.
Motivating an investor, exec, agent, or distributor beyond the log line is a miracle and often the decision between keep it or toss it is made in seconds. So, that very brief initial email has to impress.
For those who can, leveraging appropriate strategy can definitely help. Unfortunately, with mere seconds in play there aren't many. One is the title-brand. A unique, simple, memorable title-brand may just earn that critical moment of intrigue to move your project to the consider pile. In the end it is indeed all about the idea, but too often brilliance goes unnoticed because it failed to grasp that extra micro-moment of consideration.
We don't do "logos", we do brands and there are significant differences. A logo is a graphic mark, visual shortcut and abbreviation to that which it represents. However, a brand communicates experientially to establish an emotional bond between itself and audience. Whereas the logo is limited to visual recall, a successful brand leverages psychological methodologies and works subconsciously to achieve tone.
As a producer, J. credits brand work and strategy as critical to bringing his content to the screen. In addition to projects for Universal, Disney, and his own productions, J. still finds time to help others realize their own success.

- Creative Process
CREATIVE PROCESS: The creative process is unique to each category of work. See this page ‘primary image’ for details.
DEVELOPMENT: Your contract is for Final Work only. All developmental concepts, works, and ideas not incorporated into the final remain the property of its creative author (i.e., the conceptualist).
OWNERSHIP: All works remain the ownership of its creative author unless commissioned as ‘Work For Hire’. Most projects are Work For Hire, however this is not absolute in every case. Ownership and rights are specifically negotiated and outlines in each project contract. Upon final payment, Work For Hire clients will receive a ‘Rights Transfer’ document for the Final Work element. This document legally releases all rights of the final work to the commissioning agent or company.
COVID UPDATED PROCESS: Health and safety is our highest priority. To ensure the safety of everyone, Scaramanga Ranch has new protocols in alignment with State and Area Health Orders.
ONLINE GROUP MEETINGS ONLY: Collaborative meetings of more than 3 persons is strictly online for time being. Due to our crowded schedule all meetings must be scheduled in advance. You are welcome to call us anytime.
ONE-TO-ONE MEETINGS: For the most part these too will be video calls. If it’s necessary to meet in person we will accommodate you.
PAYMENTS: Deposits and balance payments must be made online.
- In House or On Location
Assume every project is fulfilled at and on the Scaramanga Ranch production office unless otherwise negotiated.
Some projects may require on-location work and travel as outlined and jointly agreed to within the Agreement. In these cases, all expenses associated with on-location work are the responsibility of the client.
